Coldbound is proud to announce that the South African-English keyboardist, arranger, singer and songwriter Manfred Mann has played synthesizer solos on two songs for Coldbound's upcoming album.
From the early days of success with the song "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", which managed to break number 1 in the USA in the same year with bands such as The Beatles, to the later progressive rock era, Manfred's music has been undoubtedly a compass and blueprint for many artists to come.
Pauli states: "Manfred's music and especially his work with Manfred Mann's Earth Band has unlocked a whole new musical universe within me. Right after I re-introduced the vinyl records into my life, I simply had to go back and listen to all the classics such as "Nightingales And Bombers”, "Messin' ", "The Good Earth", "Solar Fire", "Chance" to name a few. Later on, I discovered accidentally that Manfred's Moog can be heard on Uriah Heep's song "July Morning".
After weeks spent around the turntable, I had to investigate further the current musical status of Manfred; and once I found that he is active and kicking, I simply couldn't resist but to reach him and discuss a possibility of a collaboration between Manfred Mann and Coldbound, on two particular tracks.
Manfred was very responsive and happy to work out some unique melodies. Our keyboardist Meiju Enho provided Manfred with all the musical details that we used on the songs. To work with such an exceptional pioneer, it wasn't only a pleasure but also a true honour and a lesson in life that I will forever be grateful for.
Throughout my short passage on this earth and approximately 27 trips around the sun, I have heard Manfred's sound in different styles and genres, but this was the first time that I listened to Manfred sharing his magic in the rough sound of metal music."
