THE MMEB NEWSLETTER 8 (September 2009)
Welcome to the MMEB Newsletter. First of all, apologies to those of you who registered some months ago and have had no news since. Somehow the time has flown by and every week there has been another reason to put the letter to the bottom of the pile.
On to business. The big news is that Noel and the Earth Band have now parted company, by mutual agreement. Noel has been looking to explore other paths for some time and Manfred, the band and we wish him every success.
The replacement vocalists will be rehearsing with the band over the next few weeks - the gig at The Brook, Southampton, will be your first chance to catch the new line-up.
As soon as we get more details I'll let you know!
Noel's departure has meant that confirming gigs has been slower than usual, but the list is up to date now, and I'll be chasing Alec every week for updates. Check the tour page (http://www.manfredmann.co.uk/on_stage/mantour2000.html) regularly for updates.
The new website is now almost ready and should be launched within the next week. Any comments/ requests/criticisms are welcome! (Hope there aren't too many of the latter though!)
On the release front, we should have a set of five bootleg CDs ready for October. These feature bootleg recordings dating from 1981 through to 2007 from across Europe. Bootlegs are an ever-present bugbear for the band and by releasing these 'officially' the artists and songwriters will be paid for their talents.
Following the CDs, we will be releasing Then & Now – a DVD featuring live performances by the band from 1972 in Australia, and from 2005 in Germany. It's hard to believe it's nearly forty years since the Earth Band first hit the road! The DVD should be ready in time for Christmas.
Best wishes
